ELTRINGHAM FISHINGS ON THE TYNE
  FISHING RULES





 

  1. Eltringham is divided into 3 beats, the Upper, Middle and the Lower Beat as indicated on the plans that will be provided on arrival. Tenants and their guests will generally fish the beats on rotation. Details will be provided to tenants on or prior to arrival by the manager or the Ghillie.
  2. Each beat accommodates a maximum of 3 rods, and tenants are responsible for ensuring that this number is not exceeded at any time unless the tenant has taken the whole beat for that day.
  3. Tenants are responsible for ensuring that they are familiar with the limits of each beat and will at no time fish beyond those limits.
  4. The Management and the Ghillie reserve the right to prohibit night time fishing for Health and Safety reasons (i.e. high water etc).
  5. Subject to notifying the Management in advance, Tenants may fish from dawn.
  6. Tenants must fish in a responsible and sportsmanlike manner at all times, taking a cast & a step.
  7. Fishing is to be by fly,spinning or worm unless permission is given to the contrary.
  8. All salmon caught prior to 16 June in any year and any seatrout bevor 2 April must be released.
  9. All foul hooked fish must be returned to the river.
  10. If not released, all fish caught by rod and line by authorised persons remain the property of the tenant.
  11. The tenant shall ensure that all fish caught (whether returned to the river or otherwise) are reported to the Management if possible on the same day, or within 48 hours.
  12. Rods may not be shared and fishing permits are not transferable. Also on the few days the owner is fishing the fishing will be closed to all guests.
  13. Dogs may accompany rods, but must be kept under close control at all times and faeces picked up. The Ghillie may, at his absolute discretion, ban any dog from the river.
  14. Tenants and their guests will cooperate in the prevention of poaching, and are requested to report immediately to the owner, or any police officer, any fishing by unauthorised persons.

  1. When wading, we advise the use of a wading stick. It is recommended that an A.B.S. approved floatation jacket (or similar) should be worn. We only provide life jackets in the boat no life jackets are supplied for other fishing. It is up to the individual to supply his/her own.
  2. A Health & Safety guidance statement will be issued to all rods on the first morning and displayed in the fishing hut. Tenants and their guests must comply with the guidance at all times.
  3. Fishing huts are to be used as shelters and lunch huts only, and must not be used as sleeping places.
  4. Tenants and their guests must exercise due care and consideration in driving vehicles over access roads and tracks leading to the riverside. Cars may only be parked in designated car parking areas.
  5. All rods are required to hold suitable third party insurance cover to indemnify them in the event of any competent claim being made against them during their period of fishing.
  6. All rods must obtain and carry a valid Environment Agency Licence. These may either be obtained from a Post Office or online at The Environment Agency
  7. All rods should observe the Country Code at all times; no fires shall be lit No litter shall be left in or around the fishing hut or on river banks, and all gates shall be closed and locked (as applicable).
  8. All rods exercise their rights to fish entirely at their own risk, and acknowledge that neither Fishing Managemet(NE) ltd., their servants, agents or employees will be liable for any loss or damage occasioned by or to the tenants or their guests or his/her/their property.
  9. If the river rises to a unsafe hight or condition the Ghilli will remove all tennants and their guests until he deems it safe to start fishing again.
  10. Permit holders must comply with all relevant Environment Agency Bye Laws, these rules and the general rules of sportsmanship and good manners relating to salmon fishing.
  11. These rules may be changed or added to by Fishing Management(NE) ltd. at any time.

Booking conditions

  1. Once you have booked you cannot change your dates or number of rods (the only exception is if you have notified us of any mistakes within 7 days of the date of making the booking).
  2. You cannot sublet fishing you book without our permission and then only by private arrangement and at the same prices and conditions as for this booking. Only the fisheries manager may be used to help obtain a sublet.
  3. In the case of a cancellation we will provide you with alternative dates. If this is not satisfactory moneys will be refunded only, if for the dates you booked, other bookings have been received.
